About this role

Our client, a successful company in their field are looking to recruit a Group Accounts Assistant to work in a small, busy team in their office based in Golborne.  The main responsibility of this role will be to assist the Financial Controller with all business accounting activities.

The main duties of this Group Accounts Assistant role will include:

  • Setting up new clients in line with company procedures
  • Issuing statements to clients
  • Processing invoices on a timely and accurate basis, making sure that VAT is included as appropriate
  • Banking and reconciliation
  • Weekly reconciliation of sales ledger and cash sheet
  • Weekly update of cash sheet
  • Ensuring that payments are banked promptly and in full and allocated on a timely and accurate basis
  • Running off turnover statements to help business planning
  • Assisting with Credit Control, reporting any issues to the Financial Controller
  • Processing of rebates, refunds and adjustments
  • Overseeing the running of the Company card system
  • Filing
  • To attend identified training as required
  • Ensuring that the role provides a high quality service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Working with purchase ledger ad subcontract ledger, deputising where necessary
  • Liaising with other colleagues to ensure that anomalies are investigated and queries are dealt with in a timely manner

The successful candidate for this Group Accounts Assistant role will possess:

  • Experience in financial accounting software, preferably Sage
  • Knowledge of making payments via BACs
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Liaising with the company finance providers to provide up to date information
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and CIS is desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build rapport with customers
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Good numeracy skills
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure
  • Be able to work to monthly deadlines
  • A good team player
  • An analytical mind
  • Good IT skills, including knowledge of range of software packages
  • Ability to work on own initiative
