About this role

Our client is a successful business of long standing, based in the Salford area, currently enjoying a period of growth.  In line with their future plans, they have a vacancy for an experienced Assistant to the Purchasing Manager with excellent IT skills, particularly Excel.  This role is offered on a permanent basis and full time hours, duties as follows:-

  • Assisting management in the building and maintenance of strong customer relationships
  • Ensuring the supplier records are maintained and up to date
  • Handling new product requests, checking specifications and liaising with other colleagues within the business
  • Liaising with colleagues within the business regarding any delays or problems with suppliers
  • Maintaining records of supplier contracts, ensuring all certifications and test results from overseas vendors are correct
  • Undertaking all relevant reports for the company and customers as required
  • Updating and maintaining the customer portals with all applicable test results
  • Receiving, filing and labeling samples for QC to use as benchmarks
  • Completing product specifications for major Customers and ensuring all new products launches are on track
  • Updating details of delays or problems with suppliers for new products
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding new products
  • All associated Purchasing duties as required

The successful candidate for this varied Assistant to the Purchasing Manager role will possess the following:

  • Excellent MS Excel skills are essential – proven knowledge of Pivot tables and V Look Up is a requirement for this position
  • Organised and methodical approach to work is essential
  • Good working knowledge of all other MS Office products
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A good eye for detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy of information
  • Strong team work ethic
  • Previous experience within a similar role would be highly desirable

In return the company offers the position on a full time permanent basis with early interviews offered.

Hours of work will be:

Monday – Thursday 7.00am – 4.30pm

Friday – 7.30am – 12.30pm

Salary:  £23,000 – £25,000 per annum
