We are recruiting on behalf of our client a Professional Services company based in fabulous offices in Swinton, who is looking for an experienced Part-Time Call Handler to join their busy and supportive team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong customer service and call-handling experience who enjoys helping people and is confident dealing with a wide variety of enquiries.
As the first point of contact for residents, you will handle incoming telephone calls, emails and text messages. Some conversations may involve people who are upset, frustrated or anxious, so we’re looking for someone who can remain calm, empathetic and professional while providing clear information and managing expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as the first point of contact for residents, handling incoming calls in a professional, friendly and empathetic manner
- Managing sensitive or challenging conversations calmly and professionally
- Accurately recording enquiries, requests and updates on electronic job files
- Responding to incoming emails and text messages in a timely and appropriate manner
- Making occasional outgoing calls to arrange, confirm or cancel appointments
- Liaising with surveyors and other operational colleagues regarding appointments, access arrangements and changes
- Updating and maintaining resident records, ensuring information is accurate and up to date
- Prioritising enquiries and escalating urgent, complex, safeguarding or welfare concerns appropriately
- Providing residents with clear and accurate information
- Supporting general administration, including data entry and record keeping
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure an efficient and high-quality service
About You
Previous experience within a customer service, call handling, contact centre or resident-facing role is essential for this position.
You will also need:
- Excellent telephone and customer service skills
- Experience dealing confidently and sensitively with upset or challenging callers
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good written communication skills
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- The ability to manage several tasks and prioritise effectively
- A professional and resilient approach when working under pressure
- The ability to work well as part of a team
