An interview can be a very daunting and nerve wracking experience, we wanted try and ease those nerves and put together a few hints and tips for the perfect interview preparation.

Tip 1: Dress appropriately:

This is often a tricky one as different companies have different dress codes, it is however always best to be slightly over dressed than under dressed. It can cause some apprehension when approaching an interview if you do not know what to wear, but try and relax, if you turn up looking smart and professional then the interviewer will be impressed, first impressions count.

Tip 2: Arrive in good time:

This is another one that can cause some confusion, do you arrive very early or just on time? We would recommend that around 10 minutes early is perfect. This way you are present with time to spare so the interview can go ahead on time but you are displaying to the interviewer that you are an efficient time keeper, a trait that will work in your favour in terms of selection for the role.

Tip 3: Research the company:

This is a very important point, it can look very unprofessional if you do not have any knowledge on the company you are hoping to work for. On the flip side, if you have taken the time to read up on the business, you are displaying that you have a genuine interest in landing the role and the interviewer will be looking for that kind of attitude.

Tip 4: Read up on the job:

As well as researching the business, we think it is always essential to have strong knowledge on the actual role you are applying for. Take the time to look at the duties you would be undertaking and then be in the position to outline to the interviewer how you can match your skills to the position. This will give the interviewer a clear vision of how you could suit the role.

Tip 5: Prepare questions:

During an interview, you will often be asked if you have any questions, it is not always to best look if you sit there with no real response. You should use your research to prepare some questions to ask the interviewer, again this shows that you have a real interest and that you care about the job!

We think that these hints and tips for the perfect interview preparation would all contribute to a highly impressive interview, good luck 🙂
